What we will share with you:
We intend to show you the culture of the people called the Bushmen, or the San. This site will tell you about the religion,
technology, and the political world of these people who were once prominant.
Where does the culture come from, and what are the characteristics of the San?:
The Bushmen live in a very hot climate with very little water. It is mostly shrubland and tall desert grass. They do not keep
farmland because they are constantly on the move. They find roots and tubers in the ground that provide them with food and
medicine.
The Bushmen origenated from the southern areas's of South Africa, Botswana,and all along the Kalahari Desert. They are universally
recognized as the first inhabitants of southern Africa. Their time starts about 10,000 years ago. The Bushmen are a people
who have a love for story telling, music, and dance. Some of their cultural background has been forced to change because
of their neighboring villages and colonies.
The outside culture that intruded upon the Bushmen:
The Europeans (specifically the Dutch) where the people who came into South Africa with the intent of colonising and using
the Kalahari Desert as their own.
